From the President’s desk
7 November 2018
Hi all
Armistice Day
It is a week off to 11 November. Next Sunday, in London and
throughout the UK there are celebrations. In London, a ticketed
event for street viewing, for a march along Horse Guard Parade, past
the Cenotaph, where the Queen is to lay a wreath. Sadly there is not
the same pomp here in Sydney. Not sure why? Australia, lost 62,000
men. A memorial is in every town and an Honour Roll in every hall and
church.
But all is not forgotten, however; I am
aware that the Rotary Club of Tumut will celebrate the 100th
anniversary of the signing of the armistice to end World War 1 with
a lantern walk on the Tumut Community Labyrinth for Peace at Rotary
Pioneer Park at 9pm (11 am GMT) on 11 November

AGM and
Elections
Rod is reminding the members of the forthcoming Annual General
Meeting and the Board Elections for the next Rotary year with
President Elect, Arie Pappas. An important spot on the Board will be
the President Elect for the next year. It is the Club President for
year commencing 01 July, 2020 through to 30 June, 2021. President of our Club is an honour, and a fulling position. It is not has
demanding as may be imagined, because our Club supports each other,
I know. We could not complete the events we do if this was not the
case. If there is doubt, the membership will carry you through.
Pride of Workmanship
Pride of Workmanship at our Club turns 21. It is amazing, an award
that was commenced as a vocational project, honouring those who were
in business in the locality. The award was named after the deceased
Rotarian, Ray Sherry, a local plumber. Roy Ellis, who has lived in
the area for a number of years, remembers Ray doing work for him,
easy going and completing the job well.
Christmas Party
Our family Christmas Party is be on Thursday 6 December, 2018. At
Nonna’s Restaurant. Planning is underway for a wonderful night.
Prepare for fun!
