Last Week
At our last meeting, our own Chris Haseldine, had us sitting in our
seats with our months open, gasping, from his comments on the
Children’s Court, the legal jurisdiction to protect children. We
were introduced to all the players- the Solicitors (being there for
everyone), the good and bad actual parents, the foster parents-
some being good, others entrepreneurial, the medical practitioners,
the police, the Magistrate, and even the Government’s Family and
Community Services, - what a “bog hole” pulling all players down!
The children, secret names on paper. All parents of children should
hear Chris’s stories. I can say to a parent “be good and stay away
from the bad stuff”, a sad outcome may be when your children are not
there when you come home, but living with strangers. A serious
matter!
Christmas in July
On a more cheerful subject, the photos from Christmas in July with
Glen and Gary Ella are on our web page, so you can scroll through,
laugh and send them on to the family. My intuition, is that photos
from the night are already in Europe. Bill Carney won the
subscription to a Gym. Mira, said, if Bill doesn’t go, our
daughters sure will. The comment reminded me of a conversation I had
with my children, when few years back. I came home a new mobile
phone, and their words were, this phone is wasted on you, Dad!
Prove them wrong Bill and let us know how you went. Also, thanks to
Allan for arranging the Gym sponsorship, and the prize, at “Next
Generation Gym, Ryde”.
I am still coming down from the night. It has to be there again next
year.
Police Officer of the Year
Our next event is the Police Officer of the Year. Planning is well
underway, as it is to be held on 19th September, 2018. This is a
great event for the Club, we have done it successfully previously
and it is greatly appreciated by both the Police and the State
Governments. All members should try and be there. It is to me our
premier community event. Others can correct me saying, Vocational,
never-the-less we are honoured to host the night.
Venue
A return to Strathfield Golf Club, has us off the tee, and coming
down the fairway, hopefully a chip away, unsure at the moment how
far from the flag, but we will let you know soon
