From the President’s desk
27 February 2019
Hi all
Charity Golf Day The
Trish Golf and Dinner has been reinstated after an absence of seven
years, and the momentum had more than slowed-- it had stopped. In
our Club, the memories of the fun and the achievement of the event
were always there: Niall King, supporting the Trish Foundation, the
dedication of Parents Roy and Carol Langford, working for a cure for
MS, so another family would not lose their child to this mystery
disease, as they had with Trish.
Team Effort
In early February, the attendance momentum of the Trish Golf
and Dinner, was not kicking over, as with an old car it needed a
push. The push came from a great team. To borrow from the Blue's
Brothers film, let's get the team back together, and save the Trish
golf and dinner, the team of course was the Rotary Club of
Strathfield, that's us! and we did!, 80 plus for golf and 130 plus
for dinner, wow! Leading from the front were Honorary members John
Leftwich, Niall King and Ray Wilson. Holding it all together was Rod
McDougall. Rod will let us know the bottom line latter this week,
there are further receipts and payments to arrive. Thank you, Rod,
Thank you Brad, the photos

Reflections
There is so much I can say about the day and the evening, for myself
it was restarting my golf game, also after seven years, the last
Trish Golf Day. On the course there was not a lot to remember,
accept a fairway 3 Wood on to the Green, and a 9 Iron chip, over the
bunker, the rest was horrible. Hoping next year to come away with
more a memorable play. As for my team, friends Greg Schultz and Doug
Westerway, they were great , enjoying the play and the course,
although they were carrying me. A last reflection, is waiting to
putt in the pre-game putting competition, Andrew Aravanis is in
front, Andrew with good touch, on line, well weighted, sunk a 50
foot putt, the competition ended. Well done Andrew,
District
Conference
At the last District Presidents meeting, the
District Conference (click) as been finalised for 15-17 March,
2019,at Bankstown, fellows try and make it for part of the
proceedings, you will not be disappointed. Also discussed is the
future amalgamation of the district with another District, termed
"redistricting". This is a response to the overall falling
membership and the aging of existing members. I welcome the input of
members on this issue.
Rotary Club of Fusagasuga
Also late
Sunday, I looked at my mobile, and on WhatsApp, from Columbia,
President Jaime,
photos (click) of our own Peter van der Sleesen and Jan,
visiting the Rotary Club of Fusagasuga. No message, but sure looks
as they were having an interesting and fun visit.
