From the President’s desk
28 November 2018
Hi all
PRIDE
OF WORKMANSHIP AWARDS
Our Pride of Workmanship Awards last Wednesday evening was a
wonderful evening, the fourteen awardees, the speaker John Manenti
(coach of the Woman 7s Rugby), the raffle and the 18 prizes, wow
what a night!
The
Troika plus
Many thanks to our Troika of Nick Hamilton- Kane, leader and on
the side, Usha Garg (Vocational Service Director) and Rod
McDougal (Secretary). While they were the team, the strappers
and reinsmen, were surely, Peter Smith (the plagues and plus)
and Rick Voslia the raffle (18 prizes, wow!) and sponsorship.
Rotary Involvement
These events are not easy to bring together, we had a dedicated
and cohesive team, solving the problems as they appear on a
daily basis. The evening was a Club event and it was great to
have for twenty eight Rotarians from our Club selling raffle
tickets and mixing with the awardees and employer
representatives. My part for the evening was to speak on Rotary,
my few words were small, if fact there were no words required,
Rotary was as visible on the night.
The Ray Sherry Shield
Nancy Sherry was called upon to presented the Ray Sherry Shield.
Maree Bradley from Meriden School was the recipient this year.
Maree will be custodian of the shield until next year's awards
being chosen for her commitment to vocational excellence and a
person that Ray would have been proud to know.
The Location produced a
poem
The Carnarvon Golf Club was our venue, and the back drop to the
evening was the sunset, the pink and grey ribbons in the sky
over the fairways. The poem selected this week is
Australian Sunset by Dorothy Hewett. (click).
JOINT
ACTIVITY
The Board are currently considering partnering with the Rotary Club
of Fusagasuga, in Columbia, to assist them purchasing school
materials for a disadvantage school. On Sunday I and latter Rod, we
spoke with the President Jame Hernan Gonzalez, let us say with his
English student daughter, we all understood the task and terms of
our participation. Hopefully we can provide the means for funds
raised in Australia to be forwarded to Club for their project. Web
and Facebook pictures tell story, have a look.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
My final words is a reminder of the Club family Christmas Party, our
team of Club members, wives are doing the organisation, for Nonnas
on 6 December, 2018.The costs are: dinner fee $50 a head. $15
children under 12
