President’s Report
20
June 2018
Last week
We heard a very interesting and informative presentation last week
from Peter Kerr – Head Teacher, Special Education at Strathfield
South High School – on the topic of autism. This largely
misunderstood condition is not a ‘disease’ but rather a lifelong
developmental condition that affects, among other things, the way an
individual relates to his or her environment and their interaction
with other people. We also learned of the wonderful work of
Strathfield South High School in the education of their autistic
students, preparing them for life after school.
Vale: Franziska
Bock
As
reported during the last week, Burwood Rotary President Walter
Bock’s wife – Franziska – passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on 8
June 2018. Her funeral was on Monday this week. Our sympathies are
with Walter and his family at this sad time.
Last two weeks
We really are into the home stretch now. This week is our last
‘regular’ weekly meeting we have before Changeover. Next week is a
transfer to Old Government House in Parramatta for a Ghost Tour. Let
me take this opportunity to thank you all for your fantastic support
and encouragement to me and you’re your Board this year. You’ve all
made it an absolute pleasure; but more of that at Changeover! Please
make plans to come along on the night; it will be a fabulous and fun
celebration of the year that’s been.
This week
Tonight we hear from one of our newest and certainly youngest
members – JP Baladi – on the topic: ‘Stepping up for the overseas
poor’. Looking forward to hearing your talk, JP!
Thanks
Rick
