What a
great pleasure it was to welcome District Governor Bill Little and his
charming wife Irene to our meeting last week. Bill spelt out his aims for
the year and left us with some challenges that I am sure we will rise to.
DG Bill was already acquainted with many of our members and I think quite at
home at the Rotary Club of Strathfield. We will certainly do our best to
meet and maybe exceed the targets set for us.
ADG Peter
Davidson and Coral accompanied the Governor. Peter is responsible for 3
Clubs – Strathfield, Burwood and Concord, so we welcome Peter from time to
time to our meetings.
We also
had the pleasure of watching a video of Bike the Park made by Cheryl Ayres.
It brought back to life some magic moments of a major fund raiser in PP
Keith Byrne’s year and was very professionally produced. Thanks go to Rod
McDougal and Bradley Ayres for their help. Especial thanks to Cheryl for
such a great job. Suggestions are now flowing as to what other events
should be filmed for posterity
Clarrie
Edwards a Past
President of this Club and Strathfield’s longest serving Mayor had a brain
tumour removed last week. The operation was successful and Clarrie is now
recuperating at home. We wish him good health and happiness for the future
and have sent along some flowers to let him know that we were thinking of
him.
Shirley
is organising a night out to see Menopause the Musical at Star City. The
comedy has played to rave reviews in New York and in Melbourne. A commitment
sheet will be circulated tonight.
We hope
that the information inside last week’s bulletin cover was correct. Please
let Roger know of any alterations required.
‘Till
next week,
enjoy
