Last week Paul Austin told the
Club all the reasons why Strathfield should not be amalgamated. His talk
certainly prompted many questions and at least we are better informed now.
Paul is chairman of ‘Strathfield United’ a non political group that meets
every Monday at 7pm in the Bowling Club.
DG Elect Harley Tarrant and I
will be attending the Rotary breakfast at Darling Harbour designed as a show
of solidarity while the RI Committee assess Sydney as a possible suitable
venue for the World Conference.
The first Presidents meeting
of this Rotary year is at the Panthers Club August 12th, which unfortunately
clashes with our big Trivia Night. The DG has been very understanding about
my predicament and is happy that President Elect Rod McDougall will
represent our Club at the Presidents meeting while I attend the Trivia
night.
If the Police Awards night 7th
September is bigger and better than ever this year it will be thanks to the
efforts of the committee who are working hard to make it so. 100%
attendance would be nice.
We will circulate a sheet
tonight for “an evening with Jeff Kennett” who is Chairman of “beyond
blue”. The night will benefit the Australian Rotary Health foundation and
the fight against mental illness. Venue Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club, 117
Ryedale Road, West Ryde, Thursday 18th August at 6.30pm for 7 $38.00pp
I am sure that by now all
Strathfield Rotarians will have boned up on much information that they
didn’t really want to know and will be able to answer almost all the trivia
questions asked on Friday night. We look forward to a fun night in aid of a
worthy cause. 7:00 pm for 7.30pm Wallis Hall Meriden School.
See you there.
