Welcome to Partners and visitors tonight: we hope you enjoy the meeting

Last week Alfredo le Cava told the Club the story  of “Pure Gelato”.  Alfredo and his partner, Joseph, are the principles of the company and in this day and age of the Multi Nationals it was a very refreshing story indeed.

I attended the Presidents’ meeting at the Panthers last Friday.  The meetings main purpose was to deal with the Annual Resolutions Session which up till last year had always been on the agenda at the District Conference.  However the present arrangements seem to be advantageous.  There were no contentious issues and as you may recall we dealt with them at Club level some weeks ago.  Some Clubs had not received the District Financial Statements so that along with a couple of minor queries this mater was deferred until the Port Macquarie Conference.

One question in the open forum was ‘What do Clubs expect of their District Governor?’

I noticed a big smile on Harley’s face when the item concluded with the statement “They are doing a marvelous job, leave them alone!”

There are still vacancies for the Friendship tour to Sweden leaving on 4th August and returning 6th September.

The Motor Neurone Disease Association have asked us to do the BBQ in Hyde Park after their awareness march on Saturday 1st April.  Shirley has said OK and Nial has everything under control, although we know that this is Templeman territory!

We had a very nice letter of thanks from Dr Utbar, President of the Strathfield Probus Club, who enjoyed his visit with us.  Probus, as you know, comes under the Rotary umbrella.  We are the only Club in our District with 3 Probus Clubs.

Until next week

Enjoy Rotary,

                         President George
