President George's

Chit Chat

23 November 2005

I suspect that before last weeks meeting not too many of us knew anything about the NSW Maritime Service.  General Manager Brett Moore soon put that to rights and we learned that as in most other areas the times they are a changing.

Your Board met last week after the regular Club meeting.  Yes, even though the soccer was live on TV and showing in the bar.  However, we did finish in time to see the second half and all the drama that ensued.  What a great result even though penalty shoot outs are not ideal except in this case!

Board Matters

The board resolved to support the Rotary Shelter Box programme.  We discussed membership development and attendance and we agreed on supporting The Down Syndrome Foundation and Motor Neurone Disease Research.  We also resolved to investigate the purchase of a credit swipe system and a laptop computer for the Treasurer's use.    Director Paul Giammarco is to report on possible Emergency Service Awards.

For any Rotarians who would like to know more about District Committees Friday 25th is your big chance.  6 for 6.30 Rooty Hill holiday Inn adjacent to the RSL $5.  RSVP Secretary Roger.

Time goes quickly when you are having fun is often said.  I mist be having a ball.  The Christmas season seems to be well and truly here.  Two lanes of the harbour Bridge closed last weekend preparing for the New Year Celebrations.  Half the year gone in no time at all.

Next weeks meeting is at the South Strathfield Bowling Club due to the Golf Club being unavailable.  Neryla Jolly will tell us about the School of Applied Vision Services, Vision and Driving Project.

When all else fails read the instructions.  If the instructions are missing – kick it.  But remember it works better if you plug it in.

Till next week,

Enjoy Rotary,

                         President George
