Chit Chat

26 October 2005

Some contentious issues were raised at last weeks meeting when two speakers from Greenpeace addressed the Club.  Genetic Modification for food crops is certainly not on their recommended list.  However we did learn a little of their good works in pursuit of a better world.

Ray Wilson again organized a successful District Golf Day last Thursday.  The ‘John Taylor Shield’ which was won by the Central Blue Mountains Club was presented by Jo Taylor.  District Governor Bill Little was in attendance and presented other prizes.  Ray Wilson certainly deserves a big vote of thanks for his efforts (perhaps a little more support too!).

A decision has been made that funds raised from the raffle at the Christmas Carols in the Park will be donated to Camp Quality which I am sure that you will agree is a deserving cause.  Council have assured us that our involvement in the Carols will be as per usual.  Bert Houston will be looking for support from all Strathfield Rotarians.

Fred Haddon underwent successful surgery for two hip replacements last Wednesday and is doing well.  He is available on his mobile.

Until next week

Enjoy Rotary
