It was a delight last week to witness and participate in a program that Strathfield Rotary can be proud of. The Pride of Workmanship Awards is one of the highlights of our year and the level of esteem that the awardees feel by being recognised and acknowledged is very special. The response from all of the awardees was sincere appreciation for the commitment of our club to a highly regarded vocational award program.

The success of the evening resulted from the energetic and enthusiastic work of Connie Galletta over many weeks and I and congratulate and thank her for a wonderful effort. Pride of Workmanship Evening click to view slide show

Doug Potter’s compering provided a professional and entertaining touch to the proceedings, creating a relaxing and friendly mood that kept the evening running smoothly. Thanks Doug.

I would also like to thank, Grahame True, Peter Smith, Shirley Del Prado, Dave Martin, George Helou and Keith Stockall for their contributions to the success of the evening.

Special thanks also to De Lorenzo Hair & Cosmetic Research Pty Ltd, George Helou and Ray Wilson, who donated raffle prizes for the evening that enabled the club to donate $865.00 to The National Breast Cancer Foundation.

A reminder that our club has a number of events happening during the next two months, including The District Golf Day on November 10th, The Trivia Night on November 13th, Wine Tasting on November 18th, AGM on December 2nd, Adults Christmas Party on December 9th, Carols in Strathfield Park on December 12th and The Childrens Christmas Party on December 16th. All these events provide the opportunity for good fellowship and I encourage you to note these dates in your diary and participate where possible.

Tonight we welcome John Booth, owner and publisher of The Weekly Times, who will be discussing the demise of independent newspapers in our local communities.

Cheers,

President Kevin
