One of the most rewarding aspects of being a Rotarian is witnessing the dedication and generosity of members of our club to give their time, energy and finances to provide for others in our community. This was highlighted again last week on two occasions, firstly on Tuesday, when Ray Wilson and Niall King provided a great day for all participants in The District 9690 Club Championship, culminating in a win for Strathfield, represented by Bert Houston, Neil Kennan, Joseph Kim and Peter Smith. It was also a delight to see teams representing Breakfast Point, Burwood and Lower Blue Mountains participating and thoroughly enjoying the competition and fellowship. Many thanks again to Ray and Niall for their tireless enthusiasm and commitment.

Then on Friday night we were all the beneficiaries of the time, energy and effort provided by Bert & Carol Houston; Peter & Margery Foss; George & Afaf Helou; Niall & Carole King; Eric & Pauline Khu; with a most entertaining Trivia Night, which will provide funds for the running costs for the Chalmers Road School Bus for another year. Thank you to all those who attended and also donated prizes to make the evening a success and in particular Bert for once again organizing and hosting a special night.

Our guest speaker last week Erin Hodder, highlighted to members the fact that there a many people in our community performing selfless and inspirational tasks every day.

Erin was just nine years old when her mother was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and had to take on the role of care giver, a role she still fulfils today at the age of 21 in between her university commitments. Erin and her Mum make the most of each day and always try to see the positive side of MS, with Erin stating “you only get out of life what you put in, so do your best and never look back.”

Tonight we look forward to and enjoyable evening of fine wine, food, fun and fellowship, thanks to the combined efforts of Peter Manenti, Rod McDougall and Cabarita Cellars

Cheers,

President Kevin
