In my brief speech at
the Club Changeover Night I included the Royal Far West Children’s
Health Scheme as a possible recipient of Club raised funds this
Rotary year. After Wednesday night’s presentation by Jann Kingston,
CEO of that organisation, I am convinced that the choice was a good
one. Shortly a committee will be formed to organise a night,
hopefully sometime in May 08, to raise funds for this worthwhile
organisation. Will keep you informed progressively.
Those on e-mail will already know of Bob Templeman’s hospitalisation
at the end of last week. Bob has developed a heart complaint and is
in Nepean Private Hospital for observation until further notice. I
have spoken to Bob and Jan and Bob is happy to take calls from his
Rotary mates( direct line 47327139). I hope to have more information
on Bob’s health later this week.
As for Shirley Del Prado, it is hoped she will be home from hospital
by the time this bulletin goes to print.
I look forward to another wonderful Police Officer of the Year
Awards night this week.
LAURA’S CULTURAL EXPERIENCE.
On Saturday afternoon Janet, Laura and I, along with Club Councillor
Peter Van der Sleesen, attended a District run briefing session for
inbound exchange students at Kingswood High School. A very
impressive professional presentation was put on by District Chair
David Rayner and his committee of councillors. Laura was able to
meet up with the other inbound students to District 9690 and
exchange pleasantries.
At the briefing Laura was introduced to the humble aussie treat, the
lamington. Also Laura is now, thanks to Janets’ help, well trained
in the production of that famous aussie biscuit the anzac. Look out,
there maybe a sample coming your way soon!!
We have asked Laura to prepare a “wish-list” of places she would
like to see and things she would like to do while she is in our
wonderful Country. I will pass the list onto fellow Rotarians in due
course..
Remember “Service Above Self”.
