District Governors’
aide, Helen McCaffrey met with myself prior to last week’s Rotary
meeting. I informed her of our intended programs for the year and
explained that at this early stage we are on track.
Helen was particularly interested in last year’s Membership drives
and the excellent results in increased membership. The first
President’s meeting will be focusing on Membership, so I suspect
District will want to know more about our formula for success in
this area. DG’s aid Helen enjoyed her time at our Rotary meeting.
Another excellent guest speaker in marketing guru Don Keady. It was
a pity we could not afford Don the time he needed to deliver his
complete presentation. Maybe he can be coaxed into presenting “Part
Two” some other time!!
I wish Eric Khu's son well with his fundraising exercise for young
William Gallagher, a most worthwhile cause.
Janet and I had an enjoyable time last weekend with our exchange
student Laura. A fleeting visit to Katoomba on a bitterly cold day
allowed Laura to see the “Three Sisters” and the Rotary Club of
Katoomba’s centenary project, “The Road Builders Memorial”. Further
on to Mudgee then to Coolah where Laura enjoyed horse riding up and
down the steep, rugged mountains forming the picturesque Coolah
Valley. Finally, after almost two weeks in Australia, Laura now has
her luggage. It appears it had been left at Charles De Gaulle
Airport and only arrived in Sydney on Friday 20th.
Remember “Service Above Self”.
