Grahame True with Penny
President 2007-8
Rotary Club of Strathfield
President Electric's Lines
Wednesday 1 October 2008
It was sad to hear the passing of Allan Kell, a prominent Strathfield identity and a member of Burwood Rotary Club. There will be a memorial service at the Burwood Uniting Church on 10th October at 10am.
Last Wednesday Kathryn Giammarco spoke along with Sajeeb Roy and Tom Gullagle on their experiences - if these three young people are an example of our youth our future is in good shape.
I know it is early chaps but please make a diary entry for the 14th November, we will be needing some ‘man power’ to assist with the R.Y.D.A programme to be held at Penrith (Meriden girls are participating). The interact club of Meriden have elected their leaders for 2009, we congratulate President Clarissa Fasanella, Vince President Zelal Celik, Treasurer Miriam Haddad, Secretary Morgan Milton – they will be having their change over dinner early next year.
I omitted mentioning in my ‘last lines’ the board meeting held on September 16. Their was discussion on our directors making use of each person on their committee, so you haven’t been asked by your director for assistance don’t be shy, step forward, at this meeting we also spoke of the need to appoint a risk management officer for the club , this is now underway.
The Spring Fare at Strathfield Park last Sunday had a good community feel. The positioning of our BBQ and the great roll up of Rotarians bought “tears to my eyes” – or was it the onions! Seriously though excellent attendance, ambiance and Rotary exposure made the day worthwhile plus a profit of approximately $1600.
Tonight we welcome our partners and friends to hear Lewis Rangott from ICAC speak on the “Wollongong Council Affair”.
Remember: Fun and fellowship in Rotary
