Rotary Club of Strathfield

 President Electric's Lines

Wednesday 6 May 2009

Following last weeks meeting P.P. Peter and I re-looked at the numbers committed for the bush dance. Due to the apathy of the club we decided with great disappointment we had no other option but to cancel. P.P. Peter has contacted the band and a cheque will be sent to them. Unfortunately because of this we will have less money in our coffers available for charity.

Under Peter van der Sleesons’ directorship Tony Lanzafame along with Nicole Andary from Strathfield Council conducted an excellent youth awards. The club hosted the awardees and we welcomed their parents and friends. It is wonderful to highlight such excellence in our youth – it again makes me feel our future is in good hands. Many thanks to Tony aided competently by Bradley.

P.P. Steve Taylor’s fellowship dinner at the Korean BBQ Restaurant at North Strathfield last Thursday was yet another great night of international gourmet cuisine. Excellent conversation and an indulgence in Korean beer. Thanks again P.P. Steve and also to Niall and Ray Wilson for their introduction to this venue – ‘we are travelling the world on our taste buds’.

Fellows Sunday 24th May is the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Door Knock Appeal and as usual we will be on hand to help to ferry the school students for this collection – please give your commitment to Peter Smith.

I have been keeping my eye on our Rotary Grove in Edwards Park during the building of the new library – making sure they have not damaged our little forest and have left space for the next past president – all is fine.

I hope everyone is noting the upcoming guest speakers at our club meetings. This week we welcome Faye Yarroll whose presentation is on the Cochlear Awareness Network.

And remember:  Fun and fellowship in Rotary
