Spring is here and even though we have had buckets of rain hopefully the warmer weather will arrive and it will encourage more enthusiasm in attendance.
Friday evening saw the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games – unfortunately this does not have as much fan fare as the able Olympics, however the athletes strive equally as hard and deserve all our support Oi Oi Oi!
We welcomed District Governor Paul Erickson and his wife Suzanne at our meeting last week. Paul spoke on his goals for the current year. Some of the points were risk management; child protection and publicity. Paul also spoke on some of Rotaries short comings, his talk was well received.
I will be bringing up risk management at our next board meeting and will report on the outcome.
Our new members may not be aware of the forms to be signed if working with children i.e. BBQ’s, driving children, schools etc. Please see Peter Van Der Sleesen to arrange this.
A thankyou must go to Strathfield Scene and our publicity team for their article on the “Police Officer of the Year”. Publicity and Rotary awareness is one of Paul’s points we excel at – articles, photos and website all top notch.
Drivers and helpers have been organised to take students to the RYPEN (Rotary Youth Programme of Enrichment) camp next Friday - thanks Kevin for organising this.
Paolo indicated last week he needs someone to become involved in the GSE programme. Please speak to him for more information.
Recently the club has been receiving pamphlets on various organisations, I have left these on the front table for anyone who is interested to peruse.
Last meeting I mentioned upcoming social events – please don’t forget to diarise them
Remember: Fun and fellowship in Rotary
