Our Guest Speaker was Matt Balogh, the Client Services Director of McNair Ingenuity Research P/L. Matt was introduced by Neil Kennan.
His subject was “Loyal Staff and Loyal Customers’ Matt is working with employers and staff to develop an organizational culture that will allow companies to move smoothly forward.. He highlighted the fact that the character of a business flows downward from the ‘boss’. He spoke of the problems of hiring the wrong people and the disruptive influence they exert on other staff members.
People are different – you have some single and some married, some are young and others are older, staff have varying lifestyles and some are morning people and some are afternoon or evening people. The different lifestyles are expressed by the baby boomers 45+, Gen X 30-45 and Gen Y under 30.
What motivates people you hire? Indeed what does? Is it the management leadership that flows downward to staff or is it that employees are empowered to ensure they achieve what the organisation expects. Allowing staff a certain level of freedom to do their work is fundamental and management must place a level of trust in their staff but this trust is a two way street.
What is the reason for employees not performing? Do they lack ability or do they have no talent, is there no management plan in place to develop their latent potential or do they simply don’t know what to do, or are they simply lacking in motivation?
Select the right people and any organisation will flourish.
Happy Employees means Happy Customers.
After questions Matt was thanked by PP Raymond McCluskie
