Some of the following was
mentioned in last week’s electronic newsletter but for those of you who
didn’t see it, I thought it was worth repeating some of the relevant bits
again.
Congratulations to the new
Board members elected at the AGM held last week. The successful candidates
were Kevin Beltrame, Joe Campisi, Connie Galletta, Paul Giammarco, George
Hallworth and Stephen Taylor who will support Keith Byrn during 2004/2005.
Special congratulations to
George Hallworth who was nominated and subsequently elected as President
Elect for the year 2004/2005. George is a respected senior member of our
club and I am confident will have the support of all members during his
year as President.
Well another Christmas
carols event, in conjunction with Strathfield Council, has come and gone.
Considering the rain we experienced during the preceding days and the
weather on Saturday night I think we were lucky to get away with it.
Particular thanks must go to
Bert Houston who not only coordinated the event but was responsible for
carrying out many tasks himself leading up to the night and was assisted
by Bill Carney. Overall the night was a success due to the support and
assistance of those members who there on the night. Thankyou. I am not
yet aware of the final financial result, but I understand it is on the
positive side.
Regrettably the numbers
attending the ”Christmas meeting ” at Viscardi’s Restaurant last week were
small, but I hope the 20 members and 13 partners who did attend, enjoyed
the night even though it was a little noisy at times due to a large
gathering at adjacent tables. Whilst it seemed like we were waiting
forever for the desserts they were worth waiting for when they finally
appeared from the kitchen, some people were seen to have had multiple
servings.
Over the last week Shirley
has been in discussions with the Manager of Dan Murphy’s. Due to expected
congestion in their carpark on Saturday 20th and because the people who
buy a sausage on a roll delay their departure from the carpark until they
have eaten, we have agreed not to do the BBQ on that day.
Peter Manenti’s brother, Andrew, passed away last week. On behalf of the
members of the club I offer condolences to Peter and his family during
this difficult time.
The next two Wednesdays are
Christmas Eve and New Years eve therefore there will be no meetings on 24
and 31 December and no meeting on 7 January 2004.
Another Bowls Night is being
arranged with the members of South Strathfield Bowling Club on 14 January
2004.
The first normal meeting
back at the Golf Club will be 21
January 2004.
I
would like to take this opportunity to wish all members and your families
a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year
