The ‘Pride of Workmanship’
award evening last week was a fantastically successful event, thanks to Connie,
Kevin and Euan.
Our special guests on the
evening were guest speaker, Leader of the Opposition in NSW, John Brogden, the
Mayor of Strathfield Albert Tsang and his wife Gladys, Federal Member John
Murphy and his wife Adriana, State member Virginia Judge, District Governor
Lloyd Roever and his wife Chris, and Nancy Sherry, to-gether with our thirteen
‘Pride of Workmanship’ awardees, their nominators, family and friends. These
awards are highly regarded by the recipients, their employers, family and
friends, and the community.
I have been approached by DG Lloyd
Roever who would like us to include other clubs in our District, Bankstown,
Padstow, Chester Hill and Silverwater in our meeting to celebrate Rotary’s
Centenary on February 23rd next year. I propose a discussion with our members to
determine whether we can accommodate the increase in numbers on that night.
A special mention again Fellows to
attendance and apologies. This is an area that has been neglected by a small
number of Members and I appeal to all to remember your obligation to the Club.
Please make an effort to attend as we need you for so many reasons, particularly
fellowship. I am sure that we can approve in this area.
Please support the following
events, the important AGM and election of the Board for 2005/6 on December 8,
the Children’s Christmas party on December 15, and the Members Christmas Party
on December 22. And of course the social golf day on Thursday, December 9.
“MORE NEXT WEEK”
and until then, LET’S
CELEBRATE ROTARY – TOGETHER.
