Greetings Fellows,
Last Friday evening I attended
the second last Presidents meeting for the current Rotary year. DG Lloyd
Roever wished to remind each President that early in this Rotary year he
requested that he would like each Club to raise $100 per member for the
Australian Rotary Health Research Fund.
We will be discussing this at our next Board meeting and
I will endeavour to meet this commitment.
The A.R.H.R.F.
-
Provides over $1.5 million per year to research
projects and scholarships and early intervention programs.
-
Supports PhD research studies for students.
-
Works with rotary Clubs and Districts to fund research
projects in all health areas.
-
Organises Community forums to create awareness of
mental health and other health issues.
-
Advocates for good health.
-
Works with governments and private health agencies to
promote good health.
-
Provides scholarships to Indigenous Australians
studying health related degrees.
-
Promotes the ARHRF Bowelscan program in providing
screening for bowel cancer in Australians.
And all donations are tax deductible.
Last week I volunteered to compile a list of Club
equipment and property to make it easy to locate our equipment at any time
that it is required. So if you have ANY Club equipment please let me know as I
would like to get this started ASAP.
Also last week we saw our third Member for this Rotary
year inducted. We have three new outstanding Members and welcome back to Brian
Driver.
Fellows at last weeks Presidents meeting we also
discussed at length the topic of membership. We fortunately have retained good
membership but would also welcome more new Members, so Fellows if you have any
one in mind please invite them to a meeting or let me know and the Club will
invite them to visit and see one of the best Rotary Clubs in action.
Finally Fellows the issue involving Shirley and the Wagga
Club is now in the hands of District, with DG Lloyd Roever and Barry Thompson
keen to pursue a proper outcome. You will be kept informed as any information
is received.
So, “LET’S CELEBRATE ROTARY”
President Keith
