A
sincere Strathfield Rotary welcome to all our guests this week,
including those from Burwood Rotary, we hope you enjoy your visit
to our club. Last week's meeting saw excellent presentations from
two of our own members, Euan Watson and Peter Harries. Welcome
back Euan and my thanks to Peter for standing at short notice in
lieu of the scheduled guest speaker. It was a good night although
we did miss the ladies, who were busy at a district conference
meeting.
Arrangements for next week's Rotary Information Night are now
virtually complete. Over twenty guests are expected and we hope to
induct a new member on the night. A reminder that we are expecting
maximum member attendance on the night (at 6:30 for 7:00 pm) to
give our guests a warm welcome and an early introduction to
Strathfield Rotary fellowship.
November is Rotary Foundation Month and a time for us all to
reflect on the enormous contribution that Rotary, and therefore we
as members, make through the Foundation. Please see below for Bob
Templeman's excellent description of the history and operation of
the organisation.
I attended a district PR seminar this week and picked up some good
ideas on how to go about promoting Rotary and our club. Members
interested in assisting with PR should see Roger Vince or me.
Burwood Rotary's annual Melbourne Cup night will be held next
Monday. This will be a great night – and not just for the punters
amongst us! See Coming Events below for details.
The district golf day was a success with Strathfield securing
third
position. This is a wonderful day – even if you do not play golf!
The
celebrations at the club afterwards were most enjoyable. But, our
team needs your encouragement for next year – although we came in
third, there being only three teams this year, we were also the
wooden-spooners!
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
