A great
send off for a great Rotarian. Thanks to all those who
contributed to our "Farewell to Bob" evening last week as Bob
Templeman left us to join Springwood Rotary.
The tributes by Ross Brown, Peter Foss, Ray Wilson, Harley
Tarrant, Peter Manenti, Peter Kilkeary, Doug Potter, Terry Rohan,
and Ted Ingall were heartfelt and were, I know, very much
appreciated by Bob and his family.
It was
a privilege to present Bob with a Strathfield Rotary Lifetime
Achievement Award marking his 27 years with our club.
Special thanks to Garry Pearce, Peter van der Sleeson and Kevin
Beltrame for organising the evening.
It was
a pleasure to induct Tony Brown last week and I wish him a
rewarding association with Rotary and with our club. Tony has an
enviable record of community service achievement and I know he
will contribute a great deal to the club.
May was Rotary club planning month and congratulations to
President Elect Brian Johnson who is getting an early start on
his year.
The project to construct a Rotary garden at the Studdy multiple
sclerosis facility at Auburn announced by Brian at last week's
meeting has all the hallmarks of being a tremendous success. It
has been a while since the club has been involved in a hands-on
community service project and I wish Brian and the team the best
of luck.
This week we tackle the question of ethics - in our vocations
and in life more generally. It promises to be a thought
provoking evening and I am confident the Rotary four way test
will be applied on more than one occasion!
