A warm welcome to our club
to new member David McGlynn and his partner Chin. I wish them a
long, enjoyable and rewarding association with Rotary.
Some fast work by Connie Galetta and a prompt response by members
to a request for support resulted in the club securing an ongoing
fundraising opportunity at Dan Murphy's. Starting soon, we will
operate the barbecue on the second Saturday of each month – with
all funds going to charity.
February is Rotary World Understanding Month, a time when the
Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA) youth program gains
attention. Aiming to build bridges of goodwill for world peace and
understanding, MUNA challenges our youth to respect differences of
race, religion and nationalism whilst retaining their own
individualism and the best of their national traditions. Youth
Director Bradley Ayres has written to local schools seeking their
involvement.
To those who have submitted conference registration forms this
week – thank you. To those of you planning to attend who have not
registered, please do so soon to reduce the work of Bert Houston
and his committee.
Roger Vince and Brian Driver are seeking assistance for an
Interact dance at Meriden School on Friday 2 March. Please contact
them if you are able to assist with chaperoning duties.
Sal Tosto will be taking leave of absence for a few weeks, leaving
us without a raffles chair. This is a great opportunity to assist
in fundraising and give the club exposure to local merchants in
our community. Please contact me if you can assist
Next week is our annual golf day and dinner in aid of the Trish MS
Research Foundation. Niall King and his team have planned a great
event. Please note that this is a transfer meeting to Thursday 15
February, at Strathfield Golf Club.
Sales of tickets for the Trish raffle are going exceptionally
well. Thanks to Ray Wilson, Les Hockley, George Helou and others
who have assisted.
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
