     Wednesday 7 March 2007

As reported by Niall King, counting of the proceeds from the golf day is virtually complete. A cheque for the record amount of $27,000 will be presented to the Trish Foundation at our next partners night, on 21 March 2007. Professor Judy Lumby, Director of the College of Nursing and well known clinical care professional and author will join us as guest speaker for the evening.

One week to go to the conference and Committee Chairman Bert Houston is smiling – an excellent sign that all is in readiness. Thanks to all those who attended last week to lend a hand for the packing of the satchels. Our club will play a crucial role in the running of the conference. I ask all members attending to ensure that they understand their part in the proceedings.

Congratulations to Eric Khu who was inducted into the Rotary Centurions Club last week, in support of the Rotary Foundation. He joins Janelle Watson and Arthur Crossan as recent new members of the club.

Thanks to several members who attended the Meriden Interact dance last week to act as chaperones. Roger Vince reports that our attendance once again was greatly appreciated by parents, students and teachers..

Next week we welcome the North Carolina GSE team, and expect a number of guests from other clubs. Paolo Giammarco is also organising an overnight excursion to Canberra to show the team our national capital and parts in between. Details in the bulletin.

Paolo reports that our international exchange student Joanna Iskandar is doing well in France and is currently on school holidays - skiing.

A small group gathered at Cuneos Restaurant for a very pleasant evening of fine food, wine and fellowship last Friday. Thanks to Peter Harries for organising the evening.

This week we enjoy a wine tasting hosted by Cellarbrations at Strathfield. Thanks to Brian Johnson, David Giri and to Cellarbrations proprietor Terry Mott for organising the evening.

Enjoy Rotary … by getting involved!
