As
reported by Niall King, counting of the proceeds from the golf day
is virtually complete. A cheque for the record amount of $27,000
will be presented to the Trish Foundation at our next partners
night, on 21 March 2007. Professor Judy Lumby, Director of the
College of Nursing and well known clinical care professional and
author will join us as guest speaker for the evening.
One week to go to the conference and Committee Chairman Bert
Houston is smiling – an excellent sign that all is in readiness.
Thanks to all those who attended last week to lend a hand for the
packing of the satchels. Our club will play a crucial role in the
running of the conference. I ask all members attending to ensure
that they understand their part in the proceedings.
Congratulations to Eric Khu who was inducted into the Rotary
Centurions Club last week, in support of the Rotary Foundation. He
joins Janelle Watson and Arthur Crossan as recent new members of
the club.
Thanks to several members who attended the Meriden Interact dance
last week to act as chaperones. Roger Vince reports that our
attendance once again was greatly appreciated by parents, students
and teachers..
Next week we welcome the North Carolina GSE team, and expect a
number of guests from other clubs. Paolo Giammarco is also
organising an overnight excursion to Canberra to show the team our
national capital and parts in between. Details in the bulletin.
Paolo reports that our international exchange student Joanna
Iskandar is doing well in France and is currently on school
holidays - skiing.
A small group gathered at Cuneos Restaurant for a very pleasant
evening of fine food, wine and fellowship last Friday. Thanks to
Peter Harries for organising the evening.
This week we enjoy a wine tasting hosted by Cellarbrations at
Strathfield. Thanks to Brian Johnson, David Giri and to
Cellarbrations proprietor Terry Mott for organising the evening.
