The meeting tonight is devoted to providing information about Rotary
that we hope will assist you in considering whether you wish to join
our organisation.
My thanks in particular to Ray Wilson and Niall King for their
efforts in arranging the evening.
Applications for Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Peace and
Conflict Studies in 2008-10 close on 1 July 2007. Further
information can be found in the bulletin.
Tony Lanzafame is still seeking good used clothing for distribution
to drought affected families in New South Wales. Deadline for
collection is end of May.
Our incoming youth exchange student, Laura Fleurquin, will arrive
from France in July. Paolo Giammarco is seeking nominations for an
additional host family. Laura has been enrolled in Meriden School.
A reminder that proceeds from the Trivia Night this Friday 11 May
will go to the Chalmers Road Special School (for intellectually
handicapped children). We hope to raise sufficient funds to support
operation of a new school bus for one year. Please be sure to invite
colleagues and friends.
Don't miss the opportunity to join Rotary International President
Bill Boyd and his wife Lorna at dinner on 1 June at Waterview,
Bicentennial Park This will be the last opportunity for those not
attending the convention in Salt Lake City to hear him speak as
president. See separate bulletin insert for details.
Paul Reid of Holroyd Rotary has been selected as district governor
of our district in 2009-10. Any member wishing to challenge the
selection should advise Harley Tarrant in writing by 25 May 2007.
Next week we welcome Judith Lawson, the principal of Santa Sabina
College in Strathfield. With over 1,500 students the college is a
major educational facility and Judith is a leader in her field. Her
talk will be very interesting. Start time is 6:30 for 7:00 pm.
