Welcome to the Strathfield Youth Achievement Awards for 2007.
Congratulations to all awardees on your success. A special welcome
to their families and friends, to Strathfield Mayor Bill Carney and
to representatives of Council joining us tonight.
The awards are a joint initiative of Strathfield Council and
Strathfield Rotary. Thanks to Nicole Andary, Bradley Ayres, and the
Council and Rotary teams for organising the evening.
The District 9690 Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) camp
was held at Blue Gum Lodge, Springwood last weekend.. A total of six
students from Strathfield Girls High, Homebush Boys High and Meriden
were sponsored by our club. Thanks to Bradley Ayres for organising
their attendance at what was another successful camp.
Support from the club for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal held
last Sunday was excellent. Over twenty Rotarians and partners
assisted as drivers, collection counters, etc.. Peter Smith, the
Salvos regional co-coordinator, reports that over $18,000 was raised
from the Strathfield door knock.
Members may have noticed that your board has approved a new
procedure for advising members when a nomination for membership of
the club has been received and approved by the board. Previously,
only members in attendance at a particular club meeting received
notification. All members will now be advised, by email (if an
address is known) or fax (if a number is known) or letter.
It is not too late to make a donation to the Chalmers Road Special
School Bus Project. We are currently just short of our target of
$3,600 required to put the new bus on the road for one year. Please
see Treasurer Keith Stockall if you wish to make a donation (cash,
cheque or credit card accepted). Any amount will help.
Next week is a fellowship evening and we will say au revoir to Bob
Templeman as he moves to Springwood Rotary. This will be an optional
partners night.
Start time is 6:30 for 7:00.
Enjoy Rotary …
by getting
involved!
