Welcome to our first partners
night for this Rotary Year. I apologise for the lateness of advice to
members and partners, but as the subject is of vital importance to many
women (and therefore their husbands or partners too), and an excellent
speaker was available, we thought "sooner rather than later", even though
it’s also straight after another great night at the theatre.
This weekend also saw our Rotary
cycle group grow by another two members, in Rod (I couldn’t procrastinate
any longer) McDougall and Bill (I need the exercise) Carney. Even though the
Pres was uncharacteristically absent due to the bloody flu, reports from the
field indicate both new riders acquitted themselves very well. Rumours also
abound that Brian Johnston will also be a starter in the next week or two.
(Methinks the Pres. needs to get better quick and get back on the bike, so
to speak).
Tonight we also should have for
member’s information the first draft of the club calendar with guest
speakers, social events and community activities.
Progress is being made on our
debate dates with Burwood and Concord, and a regular program of "what’s new
in my business" has been organised by Graham True.
At present Partners’ Nights are
being arranged for approximately six-week intervals, which we hope will be
satisfactory.
Please be assured the board is
also working hard to ensure the fundraising proposals are well thought out,
affordable for all, and suitably spaced through the year. Details will be
provided soon.
Hope all those seeds are now
beginning to flower,
